was to give forum to Indigenous stories that are original instructions of how to live responsibly with all our
relations. I would like to thank Karen RedHawk Dallett, Director of the Film Festival
and her terrific staff who have tirelessly assembled the First Annual Talking Stick Film Festival which will be
remembered by all. It is an honor to be here with you. Enjoy the Fest !!
Karen Redhawk Dallett (Catawba/Scottish)
Festival Director
Writer, Producer, Actor, Artist
Our titles are Directors, Producers, Writers, Actors, Cinematographers, Editors, and more. Our roles bear
a unique responsibility. We are the industry of film. We create what humanity learns through. It's
the story, it's cinema. I am honored to be back in your company, to share the vision we all made together
that late, lone night, a long time past, in Rapid City, SD. Many Blessings.

Ramona Emerson (Navajo)
Program Manager
Independent Filmmaker, Producer, Director, Writer, Editor
Ramona was born a lonely brown Rez child from Tohatchi, NM. And now I've made it! Well, almost! I've
made it to I-40 and I'm ready to roll! I can do a mean Christopher Walken—if you beg. Okay, beg me or ask me nicely...
Ava Hamilton (Arapaho)
Film Archivist and Media Manager
Independent Documentary Filmmaker, Producer,
Director, Writer
She didn't want to say more, and respecting this, we add that without Ava's guidance and knowledge in film and life, we
would not be where we are nor had as much fun. Thank you and Blessings Ava. You'll always be our Movie Mama. "Aye."

Kelly Byars (Choctaw)
Filmmaker, Advisor and our Funny-Dude
Independent Filmmaker, Producer, Director, Writer, Actor, Artist, Teacher
There are never enough opportunities to show Native films. This is a groundbreaking gathering of many different
filmmakers showing so many different styles in film. I am thankful to be a part of the Talking Stick Film Festival
and it is an honor to be associated with these finely selected filmmakers (and I make a wicked buffalo stew for the fest crew).
Crystal Dancing Starr
Executive Assistant, Volunteer Manager
Following the song in my Soul allows the rhythm of my footsteps to guide me on yet another walkabout... this time I've
found a new village with a Song in it's Heart and a story to share with the world.
